I've been drawn to all of this for as long as I can remember. My first ever horror film was The Haunting, watched a good few years before I probably should have seen it, and it never really left me. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is still mine and Joshua's favourite show of all time, alongside Charmed, and there hasn't been a horror film or series since that we haven't watched together.

Ghost hunts, horror theme nights, sitting with tarot readers, a trip to Salem that felt less like a holiday and more like coming home: this isn't a mood board we built for a wedding, it's how we actually live. It's how we've decorated our own house. So when it came to designing wedding stationery, leaning into classic gothic inspiration wasn't really a decision. It was inevitable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do gothic wedding invitations have to be black?

Not at all. Gothic for us is the illustration style and symbolism, not a fixed palette. Every design can be printed in any colour or gradient, from deep midnight blues to soft creams with black detailing.

Can I get my gothic wedding invitations in my own colour scheme?

Yes, we love playing with colourways. Tell us what you're picturing and we'll see what we can do.

Is gothic wedding stationery only right for a Halloween or October wedding?

Not at all. Gothic is a year-round aesthetic for us. Some collections lean further into it than others too, Lock & Key feels closer to a secret garden wedding than anything Halloween.

Can gothic wedding stationery still feel elegant and romantic rather than spooky?

Yes. Even our own wedding was on Halloween, and we didn't want it to feel like a fancy dress party, much as we love those. We skipped the plastic pumpkins for dried flowers and our own Bleeding Heart design instead, celebrating our favourite time of year without tipping into tacky. If you want to lean all the way into trick-or-treat, In This Life & The Next Ghosts Design is where we'd point you.

Do the words on gothic wedding invitations have to sound morbid?

No. A little classic phrasing does most of the work, 'Til Death Do Us Part', 'In This Life And The Next', that kind of thing. Both nod to the gothic feel while staying elegant. We're always happy to help with wording, and we'll flag anything that looks like it's been missed.
