George & Joshua, Our Halloween Wedding in 2022
If I'm honest, I always knew that if I ever got married, I wanted something different. White flowers and a marquee in August were never for me. So I landed on my favourite holiday, my favourite time of year, and October it was.
Classy Halloween, to us, meant leaving the plastic zombie masks at home. It meant dark velvet, a pizza van, and nods to pumpkins and skeletons woven throughout the day without a single piece of plastic decoration in sight. We worked with every supplier, our florist included, to make sure each element suggested Halloween without ever shouting it. That thread running through the whole day is what made it feel considered and intentional rather than a 90s fancy dress party. Though honestly, I would absolutely attend a 90s Halloween party... 90s Wedding Invitation desings incoming.
The stationery was never just functional for us. We wanted our guests to receive something they'd want to keep, frame, put on a shelf. Something that told them from the moment it landed on their doormat that this wasn't going to be a usual wedding, in the absolute best way. Our save the dates, welcome sign, seating plan and table names all carried those same symbols throughout, and that consistency is what gave the whole day its atmosphere.
I have very little I'd change. We made sure the day suited both of us completely, and we like to think people still talk about it. Maybe that's just us.
