The Bleeding Heart is one of the most developed ranges in our catalogue, combining anatomical heart illustration with tarot imagery, gothic romance and a design voice that has evolved and grown since the very beginning. There are gatefold invitations, foiled save the dates, circular save the dates, menus and thank you cards personalised with your own photograph. Every piece can be printed in any colour or gradient, with gold, silver, copper, rose gold or iridescent foil on selected designs.

When Wesley and Christopher reached out, I knew this was going to be something special. They chose our copper foiled save the dates, the anatomical heart welcome board and our tarot table names, and the whole suite came together beautifully in their venue.

Their day is a perfect example of how the Bleeding Heart design works just as naturally for a dark romantic autumn wedding as it does for a full gothic ceremony. We are so grateful they shared their photographs with us.

A Real Gothic Wedding | The Story Behind This Design

This design started as a gatefold invitation for our own wedding in October 2022. I drew the original bleeding heart illustration with our day in mind, and we printed two versions of the gatefold, forest green for the day guests and midnight blue for the evening. Those colours ran through everything. Joshua wore blue, I wore green, our bridesmaids matched. The stationery and the day were one continuous thing.

That gatefold is now one of our best sellers, and I think about that every time I send one out. I think an anatomical heart will always sit at the core of what I make. It feels true to the idea that love is not delicate or abstract. It is physical, it is fierce, and it is worth designing around properly.

The Gatefold Invitation

Our most popular choice and one of the most personal designs in our catalogue. The bleeding heart illustration parts at the centre to unveil your wedding story, with three internal columns housing your main invite, order of the day and finer details in one seamless, striking piece.

The Foiled Gatefold Exclusive

The only fully foiled gatefold in our entire catalogue. Where our standard gatefold carries foil detailing, this version takes it further, the entire card finished in your choice of gold, silver, copper, rose gold or iridescent foil for an ultra-luxury result unlike anything else we make. Presented in a smaller A6 ratio, this was an experimental addition that pushed what we thought was possible with the format. It costs a little more, and it is absolutely worth it.

2-Piece Tarot Suite (with Tear-off RSVP)

A dark romantic tarot-inspired set featuring your invitation paired with a dedicated details card. This suite includes a practical perforated RSVP section at the bottom, making it beautifully simple for your guests to confirm their attendance.

3-Piece Invitation Suite
