Beetlejuice Inspired Wedding Invitations | A Styled Shoot by Birdhouse197
Beetlejuice Wedding Inspiration | A Styled Shoot
Some shoots just have a feeling from the very first frame. This was one of them.
When Laura Fitzgerald Photography brought together a team of some of the most talented alternative wedding suppliers in the UK for this styled shoot, I knew immediately that our stationery had to match the energy of everything around it. Purple and black. Dramatic. A little dangerous. Deeply romantic. The kind of wedding that makes you feel something the moment you walk in.
The brief drew from the Tim Burton universe, specifically the Beetlejuice world of striped suits, ghost couples, baroque excess and dark humour worn with total sincerity. If you have ever watched that film and thought "yes, that is exactly the wedding I want", this post is for you.

The Stationery
I designed two pieces for this shoot that I am genuinely proud of.
The first was the "It's Showtime" gatefold invitation, built around our In This Life & The Next ghost couple illustration with a purple colourway that hits somewhere between gothic romance and full theatrical drama. Opening a gatefold invitation is already a statement. Opening this one feels like the lights going down before a show.
The second was the ghost welcome board, using the same illustration scaled up and printed in silver on black. Standing on its easel next to the cake table, it did exactly what a welcome board should do. It told guests immediately what kind of day this was going to be.
Both designs are available fully personalised with your names, date and venue details. The gatefold comes as part of our In This Life & The Next collection, and the welcome board can be ordered as part of your on-the-day stationery suite.

The Team
This shoot was a genuinely special collaboration and every supplier brought something extraordinary.

Planning a Beetlejuice or Tim Burton Inspired Wedding?
The alternative wedding scene in the UK has never been stronger. As Serina Bakes wrote recently in The Mourning Paper, the goth and alternative wedding world has shifted from something fringe to something widely celebrated, and the community of suppliers who understand this aesthetic has grown enormously alongside it.
If you are planning a wedding with Beetlejuice energy, a Nightmare Before Christmas theme, or anything in the broader Tim Burton gothic romantic universe, here is where I would start with your stationery:
For the ghost couple aesthetic, our 'In This Life & The Next' collection is the most direct match. Ghost illustrations, dark romance, eternal love. It was made for this.
For the darker gothic drama, 'Til Death Do Us Part brings the skeleton lovers and the full theatrical gothic weight that suits a striped suit and a black rose bouquet.
For the wider Halloween wedding vision, our Halloween Wedding Invitations page has everything you need to start planning.
