We're Looking for a 2027 Couple | Candle & Key Couple Call-Out
We're looking for one couple marrying in 2027 to work with us on a full bespoke set of our Candle & Key silhouette invitations. If you're planning a gothic, dark or alternative wedding, this one's for you.
It isn't a competition or a prize draw. We want to make these invitations for a couple who love this design as much as we do, and share the making of them from the first sketch to the finished set.

The Design
Our Candle & Key silhouette gatefold is inspired by Victorian silhouette portraits. Your two profiles sit in ornate frames on the front, above a pair of candles, and the gates open to your invitation inside.
The silhouettes are hand drawn from your own photos, so no two sets are ever the same. If candlelight, old keys and vintage Victorian romance are your thing, you'll feel at home here.
What You'll Receive
- Up to 150 invitations in our Candle & Key silhouette design
- Your own silhouettes, drawn from photos you send us
- Envelopes and delivery
- A digital proof to approve before anything is printed
All at no cost to you. If you'd like matching on the day stationery too, we're happy to talk about that at a reduced rate.
What We Ask in Return
- That we can film and photograph the whole process and the finished invitations, and share them on our social media, website and in press features
- That you're happy for your names and wedding date to be visible. We'll hide your venue address and any RSVP link or QR code
- That the invitations are our Candle & Key silhouette design, and that you're happy to be flexible on colours
- If you've booked a photographer, we'd love it if you could ask them for a few shots of your stationery on the day
Who We're Looking For
A couple marrying in 2027 who are planning a gothic, dark or alternative wedding and love our work. If your wedding is in October 2027, even better. We do love a Halloween wedding.
You'll need to be aged 18 or over and live in a country we deliver to, ideally the UK or USA. Sorry, we can't deliver to the EU at the moment.
How to Apply
- Follow @birdhouse197 on Instagram. That's where we'll announce our chosen couple.
- Fill in our short application form.
Applications close at 11.59pm UK time on Sunday 15 November 2026.
What Happens Next
We'll read every application ourselves, along with one independent panel member, and choose one couple based on their answers. We'll be in touch with our chosen couple by Sunday 22 November 2026. Everyone who applies will receive a thank-you code by email after that.
Then the fun part. You send us a side profile photo of each of you, we start drawing, and we share the process as we go. Your invitations are printed and sent once the design is finished, on a timeline we agree together.

The Small Print
- One couple will be chosen by George and Joshua of Birdhouse197 and one independent panel member, based on the answers in the application form. This is not a random draw.
- To apply, you'll need to be following @birdhouse197 on Instagram. We'll check this before confirming our chosen couple.
- We'll contact the chosen couple by Sunday 22 November 2026. If we don't hear back within 7 days, we may choose another couple.
- Included: up to 150 invitations in one design, with envelopes, and delivery. Extra invitations and any other items are charged separately. There is no cash alternative.
- The silhouettes are drawn from photos you supply, so please only send photos you have the right to share.
- Invitations are supplied after the design, creation and printing stages, on a timeline we agree with you. You'll approve a digital proof before printing.
- If your wedding is postponed or cancelled before printing, we'll agree a new timeline with you or choose another couple.
- If you post about your invitations, please start the caption with "Ad", as they were gifted.
- Everyone who applies will be emailed a thank-you discount code after we announce our chosen couple.
- No purchase is necessary. We'll only use your details to choose a couple, get in touch and send your thank-you code, unless you join our mailing list.
